Northumberland The Grand Tour (Relaxed and Scenic)
Saturday 9 September 2017 - Sunday 10 September 2017
Feedback from this event:
Until (through a very indirect path), we met George. Embarrassingly, I didn't even know what 'low-box' was and certainly didn't know when to use it, or how to engage it! I used to be terrified of fords and would drive miles to avoid them - nowadays there's nothing I enjoy more than making big waves in my Landrover Discovery. Within just 4 tours with George as our guide, I'd progressed from my humble soft-roader to a Disco 2 with 2" lift. I was hooked! What can I say about George's tours - his trademark 'relaxed and scenic tours' are a great introduction to off roading; you learn gradually through the day and, before you know it, you've learned new skills without even noticing as his voice comes over the radio "it's nothing you haven't done before". The small groups are kept together by radio and you get a lot of talk for your money! Not just instructions, but a plethora of historical facts - and lots of fascinating information on landmarks and wildlife (particularly squirrels). Oh, and a giggle or two along the way as well. So, if you've ever fancied taking your 4 x 4 off-road, I can think of no better way to learn the skills, enjoy the scenery and meet a lovely bunch of people. What next for me and my D2? Well, this year I've invested quite heavily in the car in terms of protection for more technical lanes - I'm sad that it's nearly 'closed season', but it will allow me time to prep my car for off-road adventures further afield in 2018 and also get some typically Land Rover repairs done! Here's to February!
Weekend up in the Northumberland National Park with Victor the Vitara. Despite the 'technical issue' and embarrassment of being hitched up to a Discovery, had a great weekend. ATT provide a well planned trip every time, so this was no different. Easy, gentle lanes good to get to know the basics of your 4x4. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for a really enjoyable tour of the green lanes of Northumberland. It was a beautiful route and a good opportunity to try out the Discovery Sport where it was designed to go. I particularly enjoyed the local commentary on places of interest as well as the expert guidance on road conditions.
Eh up George, Tidy weekend with all as described Relaxing and Scenic. Choice of overnight hotel very acceptable. The snippets of local history added to the enjoyment and we would recommend the tour
Another excellent tour. The route had fantastic scenery and a wide variety of terrain. Gravel, mud, ruts, slopes and lots of river crossings for great photo opportunities. Our Freelander 2 continues to amaze us by overcoming everything that is thrown at it. Many thanks to Ian and Michael for doing a wonderful job of guiding us and opening the gates. Also to George for arranging a great place to stop overnight. We have now completed 5 days of touring with All Terrain Tours and will be back for more in 2018!
